Every go through your books and find extras?

I'm rearranging my older D&D books and placing product lines together and just making things easier to find if I would need to. I am surprised to find that I seem to have duplicates of 2 Dark Sun books and 6 Planescape books. I'm not sure where they came from obviously I bought them at some point not realizing that I already had them. I haven't organized everything but did notice I seem to have duplicates of other second edition books like Paladin in Hell Guide to Hell. I'm not sure why the planar books are the ones that seem to be multiplying.

Another thing that amazes me is the other crap I stored in some of these box sets. I found a map to video game from 15 years ago, NPCs I made up for the red box set (why that was stored in a Planscape box I'll never know), and other odds and ends. I found a refrigerator magnet for some college in Virginia I've never heard of. I'm have tempted to leave all this crap in there to find it again but I'm cleaning things out so they take up less space.

So, what odds and ends have you found going through old gaming books?

I have always tried to buy RPG products in triplicate (even collectible products). This recently served me well when I was forced to sell many of my games to make ends meet financially — I even managed to hold onto some of them. :)

Sounds nice. While not the same, I was recently helping one of my players cleaning up in his basement, and we found a planescape box set in near mint condition. He then gave it to me, since I DM and he knew that I had stupidly sold mine back in the days of the great purge (when we changed from 2e to 3.5).

Yeah, I was pretty happy.

Speaking of planescape, what 6 books did you have duplicates off and are you interested in selling those? (depending on what it is and price, of course).

Cheers

Well of Worlds, Monstrous Compendium, Eternal Boundary, Players Primer of the Outlands, and Planewalker's hanbook x2. I'm not willing to sell at this time but will be list them eventually in my trade thread (see sig!) in hopes of getting some other RPG books that have been elluding me.

Fair enough.

I have an extra copy of the 3e Song & Silence splatbook, and I think an extra copy of Shadowrun Companion (3rd) is floating around on the shelves at our group's normal Sunday haunt. However at the same time my copy of Shadowrun's Magic in the Shadows (3rd) was eaten by the same shelves (and I couldn't find a single damn copy of it for sale at GenCon this year, arrggghhhh!).

For earlier editions, I have multiple copies of the Player's Handbook, basically because back in the 1E and 2E days, there were never enough copies to go around. Back when "casual gamers" didn't even own a PHB... But I digress. I have four copies of the 1E PHB (two with the idol and two of the revised covers), and six of the 2e PHB (two of the guy on the horseback and four with the black covers). I purchased an extra copy of the 3E PHB, and then was pleasantly surprised that 3E players all seemed to have their own PHBs for some reason. I technically have two copies of the 3.5 PHB because I got one for myself and the Player's Kit. The softcover was a loaner for my girlfriend when I was able to get her to play.

I also have an extra copy of the DMG and Monster Manual for 2E, mostly because I had to loan them out so much in the 2E days to get other people to run the damned game and give me a chance to play from time to time.

I also buy two copies of each set of Dungeon Tiles in order to have multiples. I've never opened the second packs, and I'm kinda glad I didn't when I saw how much they're going for on ebay these days.

I've got multiple copies of the players handbook for 1eAD&D and two copies of the rule book from the Moldvay boxed set. I used to have two copies of the 2e players handbook but I can't find it.

I've got a couple copies of other books as well, but I'm not sure which off the top o' me noggin.

Oh and I've got the hard bound 3.5 and the soft bound one. And two copies of the 4e players handbook.

I don't have any RPG book multiples, but I've managed to wind up with three copies of the same Forgotten Realms novel, and two copies of two others. Whoops.
