I'm really not sure of why they would post stats of Bahamut's... avatar, I suppose.

I don't think that is an avatar, but one form he himself takes...and they posted it to show off a major draw of the book...the single highest stated monster in the game (tiamat is 35 he is 36)

the fact that one power lets him polymorph into his dragon splender (listed below) but then they do not post those stats is the Draw...

I have to admit I almost had a brian shut down when I saw his AC...52

[sblock=why you ask?]to give an idea of how huge that is:

half level 15
Highest stat mod 10
highest prof bonus 3
highest enchantment 6

grand total +34 to hit
(+37 with an expertise feat) note: I put this after the add up to not start an argument here...
need a 18 (15) to hit...

if a character starts with a 16 stat, and does not have a class bonus to hit or stats and doesn't have expertise...this drops to

half level 15
Highest stat mod 7
highest prof bonus 3
highest enchantment 6

+31...only a 20 hits and it doesn't crit...

[sblock=even more frighting]
I think this also shows why it is the top to stat, an avrage PC can not beat it...and even an optimized one needs to get lucky...now imagin Bane and moradin who are said to be 38-40th level...now imagin +2-4 to those defs...[/sblock][/sblock]

That's pretty much by-the-book AC for a level 36 solo soldier. Any party who wants to take on Bahamut had better include a high-Intelligence warlord with lead the attack, preferably an eladrin tactical warlord Spiral Tactician to give the extra boost to attack rolls with action points. And a high-Charisma cleric with plague of doom to lower his defenses for a round (and the Demigod epic destiny so that he can keep doing it - eventually). Assuming ability score bonuses of +8, that's a 17-point swing in the PCs' attack chances (a 25-point swing with an action point).

Am I correct that the stats for "Summon Gold Dragon" are nowhere near the stats of a real large gold dragon?

At least WotC did not make him unaligned....

Still "interesting" that Bahamut's bodyguard and his general are among the weakest dragon in existence....
From the stat block, it seems that the canaries are canaries that can be changed into gold dragons instead of gold dragons that have disguised themselves as canaries. If Bahamut travels with his seven gold wyrms, I guess he becomes the Old Man with Seven Canaries and Seven Other Canaries. :p
