Would you listen to an official EN World podcast?

I enjoy podcasts, although I am very selective on what I subscribe to. I quite enjoy The Tome Show, and especially the reviews and interviews he does. I am not sure about comedy, as it often falls a bit flat on a podcast format (and being British there is of course the small case of the law in place that makes it illegal to laugh while wearing headphones and on public transport - hanging offence I believe). If the comedy was restricted to a few minutes at the end, and the rest of the show actually had some meat to it, I would be all over it like a rash.

30 minutes, once a month, however, is a bit on the low-output side for a podcast and thus may continually fall under the radar a little (although not once it is subscribed, of course - just in general for making a name, rep, etc.)

Good luck!

I would find listening to an audio podcast kind of difficult. Unless it's really entertaining like some kind of radio production, I rarely listen to them. I can say that I've listened to two podcasts (both from Green Ronin--one earlier this year discussing Song of Ice and Fire and one last year I think where they were discussing not doing 4e and going with True20).

I would recommend against having it completely scripted, but until the hosts are experienced enough to be able to do it from the bare minimum of an outline, I would definitely go with a very well-detailed outline.

I agree completely. Well-detailed outlines, rather than reading off a script. Except for key sentences or particular sections. The fascinating thing is, all that "spontaneous" stuff we love and appreciate on TV and the radio, is highly scripted.

Incidentally, just to clarify - I won't be doing this myself. I'd be hiring professionals. I've no illusions as to how entertaining I'd be.

Oops. I forgot to mention that I would positively anticipate an Official Enworld Podcast, because I believe you would do an excellent job.

Speaking as a listener of many podcasts: I'd give it a whirl, but it honestly really depends on the format and the chemistry between the hosts. It's hard to get me hooked onto a podcast because of its empirical elements (e.g. a news segment); usually what keeps me listening is the personalities behind the voices. As a result, what would probably be most interesting is hearing community voices. If someone's going to make a point on a podcast, I'd like to be able to discuss it with them on the forum.

If you do wind up doing this, Morrus, then you should get with Ed Healy about including it among the podcasts that are streamed on War Pig Radio. There is a growing number of FLGS that are airing War Pig in their stores.

I'd give it a try. As others have said, it really depends on the personality of the hosts; I absolutely love "Skeptic's Guide to the Universe" because the hosts amuse and entertain me.

I listen to "Naked Scientist" as well, and the hosts are less important there, but I still really like them.

I'd rather have a shorter time, more often; 15 minutes a week, or every 2 weeks. Once a month, I'll forget to look for it. I may save up and listen to several at a time, but bringing them out frequently keeps them in front of people.

Funny you should mention that, because guess who I'm talking to about producing this very show? :)

Don't worry, I'll remind you!
