When Was Your Last 2e Experience?

I played 1E as little as a year ago, but 2E? Probably spring of 2000, and then we broke for an Alternity game while we waited for 3E to come out. Good times...

Does Baldur's Gate count?

The last time I played 2e D&D was late 2000. Didn't play it much; only started a year or so before 3e came out.

However, I picked up BGII recently and got into remembering how much I learned from the original-how much it shaped my idea of D&D and how many nice things didn't make it from 2e into 3e. Not saying I'd go back, but I find 2e good food for thought.

The week before the 3e PHB came out. I believe that was mid 2000.

Edit: I've been feeling nostagic lately and have been flipping through the books lately as I still use a lot of 2nd edition material for story ideas but I've been tempted to play a 2e session, just to remember what it was like...

I think it was sometime in 2001. Shortly after 3e broke, I took a break from D&D, playing things like Shadowrun, Rifts, and indie fantasy games like Legendary Lives. I recently picked up the Core Rules CD and am thinking about snagging the core books to run a short series of adventures in the near future.

2e is the one edition of D&D that I've never played a single session of. So never.

My last Basic game was weekend before last. I ran it at the NC Game Day. And I had run it twice over the summer as well, including once for Piratecat and a few other ENWorlders.

I killed a BUNCH of PC's!

Played 2nd edition? I am not sure I ever played second edition. I bought it, and brought products for it. However, when second edition came around I had mostly moved away from D&D to other RPGs at the time. It took 3E to move me back.

If you stick with the title question "when was your last second edition experience?"...

About 2004-2005 we had a few last minute cancellations to our regular game. To kill some time I said I might consider running a "Birthright" campaign because I loved the setting. I didn't feel it would work well in 3.XE, so I brought out my 2nd edition books to create characters. After playing around a bit, we all decided we didn't really want to play second edition.

It was purely a rules mastery issue (I had read the rules many times, so was familiar with the,). I would have been much more comfortable with an AD&D campaign.

I last played 2e about somewhere around 10-20 days before the 3e PH came out. We then played a test game using what rules we knew about from Eric Noah's site, and then got rolling with real 3E.

Basic, I prolly last played in about 1985.
