If you don't buy the PHB 2 you don't have the Primal power source.

You don't buy DDi, you don't get the assassin or any other DDi exclusive products.

*shrug*

I particularly enjoy the flavour of the Seeker, fills its role quite nicely without stepping on the toes of the other Primal Controller. Looking forward to seeing the Ardent next Tuesday, as all the previewed PHB3 classes push the envelope of 4e class design nicely.

Keep the "IIRC" in mind,but I think something to that effect was mentioned and also talked about online.

The interviews that I read had said the assassin was DDI only, and that some other races (like revanant) and other classes down the road would also only be DDI only. But I don't recall them saying the whole "power source: Shadow" would be DDI only. Of course, take my reading with a grain of salt since I don't have DDI, so there may well have been an interview/etc that clarified that point on DDI or something that I missed (since I don't read every interview, just occasional ones here and there).

That's also quite possible.

Of course, technically it already can't be that Shadow is a DDI only power source. IIRC, there is a Martial Power Warlord Paragon Path that uses the Shadow power source.

Um, care to cite which one? Cuz I've got Martial Power here in front of me, and I don't see the Shadow Keyword mentioned anywhere.

Ah, I found it. It's not Martial Power but Manual of the Planes - the other MP.
But it is indeed called Shadow Captain.

The Swordmage Paragon Path 'Umbriri' in the FRPG was also a Shadow class.
