[Trailer] The A-Team

I think it's just hard to have someone play the same role that Mr T did. Mr T was an original who was over-the-top. Having someone play a copy of him just feels... well second-hand.

I'm excited about the movie, and the trailer was great!

But, yeah, I wasn't sold on "Rampage" Jackson as B.A. in the trailer. On paper, he looks perfect (former UFC fighter), and he just might pull it off. But can anyone fill the shoes of Mr. T?!?!?! Don't think so, fool!

Nope, parachuting tank defeating a plane in a dog fight does not belong in the A-Team. They did silly stuff, sure (cabbage launcher), but they didn't do that sort of stuff.

The rest of it looked great. Just not the dogfighting parchuting tank. That's GI Joe, not the A-Team, which was always silly but grittier than GI Joe.

Actually, the A-team didn't start all the campiness till the second season, after they dropped the millionare backer and streetwise hispanic member they picked up after coming back to the states.

The best part of the first season was, that they actually did rob the bank in vietnam, but they were under orders from their superior, died the night after issuing the orders in a mortar attack...

I am starting to feel really old all of a sudden...

Huh? Millionaire backer? Streetwise hispanic member?

Are you sure you're not talking about the last season, where they were working for Robert Vaughn (as General Hunt Stockwell), and were joined by Frank Santana (played by Eddie Velez) as a pony-tailed special effects expert? The change in format which led to it being cancelled halfway through its 5th season?

Rampage is pretty much the definition of over-the-top. I'd post youtube links but the boards automatically embed them. Just search for "Rampage powerbombs Arona" or "Rampage humps reporter."

The problem with anyone other than Mr T playing BA, is that Mr T was playing himself. So anyone trying to copy BA is really doing a bad Mr T impersonation. And if the take BA in a "new direction", then it isn't staying true to the character.
