I don't think it's 'failed'.

I do wish the older PDF's would come back.

Yes, there is, about which I am happy. I've DLed those already. I also own several old TSR modules, but I used to own more. Moving around in the Army, wear and tear, et cetera, wasn't always kind to my collection.

I had just started doing something similar myself - buying older PDFs as backups and a few I never owned - when they pulled the plug. I wish the powers that be @ WotC would get over their hangups and bring them back.

After donating $20 bucks thru RPGNow to aid in the Haitian relief effort and getting over $1,000 in free PDF products in return from some very generous publishers, WotC looks like very petty nickle-and-dime penny pinchers in comparison...
