Since a trend in the media seems to be turn a minor or supporting character into a black person, this is the idea I've come up with. (Nick Fury, Wilson Fisk for example).
This is a serious idea.
What I'd like to do to create a line of comics which feature the main comic book characters, such as Spider-Man, as an ethnic minority of some sort.
What I would do is start with a limited issue series to experiment with public reaction to how these characters would be received if they were changed. And of course, if the public reaction was well received then do a longer run series.
Personally, to tell you the truth, I'd be really curious to see a black Spide-Man or a black Superman. I don't think the stories would really be all that different.
But the important difference is that it would be a separate line of comics and not a real change to the main character.
