D&D 4E Major iplay4e update! Manage campaigns, full text search, UI redesign, tablet view

I posted a dnd4e forums bug report about it, but I see the duplicate character lines thing too, and I never used a beta anything. It happens when I use the "replace dnd4e file" functionality to level somebody up.

All right, folks, this is fixed. No more duplicates will be generated, and existing ones will be automatically removed.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for the detailed reports!

Cheers,
Andrew

On Saturday I got to try my new tablet-pc with iplay4e ... a wonderful combo!

Except 2 powers that lead to a sever error instead onto the correct Compendium link, everything worked without a hitch. I reported the links (thanks to the easy report-button) and even got answers on the same evening .. now thats support!

In the end I just want to say THANKS for this wonderful site and encourage everyone to give it a try!

The intention is a whole "power customization" subsystem. Every power will be configurable - frequency, whether it's tied to a counter like item dailies, channel divinity, etc... We'll also be making it possible to "spawn a power" from any item, feat, etc. So you, as the human who can view the compendium data, will easily be able to create powers from items with a but of cut-and-paste.
This is a great idea! Really looking forward to it. Not to push you, since you've obviously put a lot of work into this already, but any idea of when this might be implemented?

Again, thanks for the fantastic website.

Probably a couple/few months, to be honest. The next release is all about support for Monster Builder files, with money editing thrown in for the sake of the players.

The power customization feature is a prerequisite for the networked combat manager, though, which we're hot to trot out, so it shouldn't be too long after that.

Again, thanks for the fantastic website.

Sure thing!

Possible Bug:

Under a character, today I saved a companion and some notes. None of the saved information was present when I returned to the site more recently.

I can't reproduce this. I have a couple (probably stupid) questions for you:

1) Did you press the "Save" button underneath the textarea?

2) Were you signed in the first time, but signed out the second? Only people with permission to view the current state of the character see changes to the notes.

And if neither of those solve the mystery, could you try again? When you do, press Save, and look at the "saving" spinner that appears (to the left of the dice). Does it ever disappear, or does it hang or show a red exclamation point?

Finally, what's your google account (you can leave off the gmail.com to avoid the spiders)? That'll let me look for log entries for your activity...

Cheers,
Andrew

Neither can I. I'm guessing I didn't wait long enough for the spinner to dissappear. Mostly because I have no other explanation.

Yes.

2) Were you signed in the first time, but signed out the second? Only people with permission to view the current state of the character see changes to the notes.
I was signed in throughout. I'm sure because I was surprised that my sign-in cookie had expired, and had to sign in again.

And if neither of those solve the mystery, could you try again? When you do, press Save, and look at the "saving" spinner that appears (to the left of the dice). Does it ever disappear, or does it hang or show a red exclamation point?
I hadn't noticed the spinner before. It takes about 10 seconds to dissappear. And now everything is saved correctly. Given the fact that I can't reproduce this bug, I wouldn't waste your time tracking it. If it comes up again, I'll report it again.

Finally, what's your google account (you can leave off the gmail.com to avoid the spiders)? That'll let me look for log entries for your activity...
See PM.

Thanks, Ferghis. It bothers me that it took 10 seconds to save the notes. It's not taking that long for me right now, but Google App Engine does seem to have occasional performance hiccups. I'll try to come up with a good way to handle it better when it happens.

Please do, as you note, report this again if it happens frequently.

Cheers,
Andrew
