Uh I'd like to take part but im comepletely oblivious to the rules and whatnot. I played once a long time ago and loved it so yeah. I like to be a rogue type with throwing knifes. So i could be ranged damage i guess.

I'd be very interested depending on the time. I live in Japan so central nights could fit in well with my mornings. Sunday night central would be perfect since I have Monday off while my gf works. I'd be up for playing a cleric or caster. I haven't played 4e yet but read up on it a while back so have a basic understanding of the rules. Please let me know if it could work.

First off thanks to everybody for their interest in the game.

If the guys who haven't had the primer e-mail could send me their e-mail addresses I'll get that out to them. Send to saitir at dworkin dot org.

Regarding the final party, technically speaking no one is confirmed yet, but that's only because we've yet to finalise the session time which may affect some people already interested.

Two guys have said they're happy to fill in the gaps in the party ranks in terms of roles, so that helps other people with flexibility quite alot.

I've never run or played in a group with two fighters, but I can well imagine the world of hurt it could bring down on mosters if they play well together!

We probably do need to start formalising things now, as so far we've got about 8 - 9 people interested - a couple of whom I think the eventual timeslot won't suit.

I'm not sure we'll be able to have a formal session this week - still a little character finishing to do I think, but I think at least an informal gathering of the people interested might be useful to thrash out the party dynamics.

I'll e-mail this post to everyone for whom I have an e-mail address so far as well.

Hi Kairu and bobbyblues,

I personally don't have any objection to a player with little experience, but I do tend to leave alot of the character and player management to the players themselves (so long as their are no destructive problems).

Hopefully we can get a discussion going between all involved and move things along now.

A general note to everyone here, by way of fairness to everyone!

Should it come to a point where there are too many players available for the game and available in the right sort of timeslot, any tough choices will be made on the basis of interesting character plus ability to play well with others.

Hopefully it won't come down to that as natural forces keep the numbers such that no one is ultimatley disappointed.

If I may make a suggestion...

Since we are starting a fresh campaign with new characters, and investing them with personalities and roles. It would be a great if everyone would think about a few things and submit them in this thread for discussion or meet in a chat room to discuss them.

First, we need a leader. Not in the D&D "I'm a cleric" leader, but in the player/character combo who is willing to grow into the leadership position fulfilled by such famous characters as Gandalf, Aragorn, Tanis Half Elven, and the like. It would be an great start if a player purposely set up their character to be a leader with a fairly high CHA and either WIS or INT. That person could have the friendship and loyalty of at least a few other players right off the bat written into their back stories. This is not to say we need a drill sergeant, but someone with the skills and the expectation to be followed. This character would speak for us during peaceful encounters and direct traffic in battle (or at least, set general battle orders). Deciding this now makes for smoother play later. I submit now, that my character is NOT the leader as he is a big dumb fighter who everyone likes but noone expects much brain work from.

I also suggest we come up with a treasure splitting policy upfront for use thru the campaign. This eliminates the mad rush to loot bodies and the inevitable anger over splits.

My last suggestion is that we, the players meet in voice chat before we have a session two times. The first to go over character creation to make sure our characters are molded to interact with overlapping and synergistic skills. This really makes role playing easier and combats much quicker and deadlier (to the monsters!!!). The second session is to work out the first three rounds of combat actions from every player and to get the leader used to directing traffic in a battle.

I know many of you may be new to 4e and thats perfectly ok with me. The system is relatively simple to use for newbies but have really amazing features once you realize you are meant ot work together more than the older editions.

Looking forward to meeting and playing with you all. I hope I didnt step on any toes here. Please remember that no matter what we discuss as players, the DM is the FINAL word on everything and should be kept informed of any and all decisions to make sure they dont jack up his game.

My name is Jim and I can be reached at lendinghm@yahoo.com

Thanks

I am confirmed as long as it is not Sunday night as i have no obligations except for 1 weekend a month for military drill.

I am one of the fighters.

Lets setup a time to all connect to finalize he setup this weekend if possible.

I'm free anytime. I agree with Ftr on the joining a voice chat or a chat room to talk and whatnot beforehand. I have no idea how to set up a character, also I would love Not to be the leader, but I am willing if no one steps forward.....Oh and about the treasure thing. I suggest we use a roll system and whoever needs the item can roll for it.
