This poster hasn't posted anything resembling spam or ads or something that would violate board policies, but so far, the first 2 posts- the only ones at the time of my writing- are COMPLETE non-sequiturs in the contexts of the threads they're posted in.

IOW, he or she hasn't done anything wrong, but something isn't right.

He's actually talking about gaming, though. I doubt he's a bot. If he is, he's a bot tailored for roleplaying forums, which is something I don't think happens.

I have seen bots that try to increase their post count before spamming so they look more legit, but their posts are usually something generic like, "That's a great idea. I agree."

We'll take a look, thank you.

A much better way to report this, though, is to report one of his posts and put your suspicions in the report. Tiny triangular exclamation mark FTW!

Gotcha- I just didn't want to stir things up unnecessarily since nothing wrong was being posted.

I'll do it that way next time, though, if there is one.

No problem. Reporting a post doesn't result in automatic demerits or anything; it just drops a post where we can all see them.

Heck, sometimes we report our own posts in cases where we want the other mods to see something we wrote. Easier than copying a link, going to the mods forum, and pasting into a new thread. #DownWithExtraKeystrokes

Right. When you report a post, it comes across a little bit like a PM -- your message at the top, followed by links to the thread and reported user, followed by the problematic post in a Quote block. That helps us evaluate what to do next.

As Eridanis said, if we stumble across text we need to edit out, we'll sometimes report it first so that we have record of the removed text. Pretty handy.

...

It looks like the POSTER in question played the "other" kind of role playing game. That is, the one created by a company named after a snowstorm. His posts might have been "on topic" if this site were not about table top rpging.
