RPGs in Target!

(I posted this on the 4e board but I think it deserves to be here as well...)

So... Saw a rumor in the twittersphere that the new Red Box will be sold in Target. In the actual store too not just online.

Talk about nostalgia. :)

I think this is GREAT for the hobby in general even if you don't play 4e. With access to an RPG in a major store in a format that's easy to stock/buy and get started it can only mean good things right?

In addition I saw there will be commercials on Hulu.com

I think this is great too- especially now that they're going to be integrating hulu with the online aspects of the various gaming systems.

Good.
Everything is going according to plan...

D&D should have the same reach as other Hasbro products.
There are huge swaths of suburbia completely cut off from FLGS access, but stores like Wal-Mart, (and presumably Target, in the states) are pretty much everywhere.

Depends on your state (that you live in not "of being...")

In CA you could buy beer (and wine too!) in Target.

The Target near my house just recently added in a grocery section to the store. I didn't notice any booze, but I didn't really browse for groceries either. I'll check on that. My luck, they'll have the booze, but not the gaming stuff. Or they'll have the gaming stuff, but not the booze!

This is great news.

They have carried D&D and Star Wars minis in the stores before, so a boxed D&D set probably isn't too much of a risk for them.

I hope it increases the game's presence in areas without an LGS.

I got my first D&D boxed set from a JC Penny's department store.:D
