D&D 4E Essential 4e: Heroes of the Forgotten Lands

How difficult would it be to use a PHB race with a HotFL class? I was thinking Dragonborn Knight, say, but also something like PHB Dwarf as HotFL Knight...

They work fine. I like the idea of a half orc slayer myself. Or a minotaur knight.

EDIT: Eladrin slayer-- melee training DEX at level 1, Eladrin Weapon Training at level 2, get a great spear.

I personally prefer this new method, if only because it's simpler to use. I no longer will have to wonder if the rogue has used Sneak Attack earlier in the round. I think it will also make more "sense" to people from a logical standpoint.

That seems to be the general rule in the essentials books.

The Knights equivalent of the "marking mechanic" and "punishment of breaking the mark" is much simpler. You just turn the aura on or off and it applies to anyone next to you. And, like sneak attacks, you hit shifters and people attacking your friends as an opportunity action, so it no longer takes up an interupt. After so many cases of "did you mark him when you attacked?" at the table, I'm sure at least a few players would prefer this kind of "marking" a lot.

Question regarding Implement Focus: is the feat text general enough that you can take Implement Focus for any possible implement? Or is it specific and only compatible with the implements that are featured in the book?

I expect the former, but I wanted to be sure. Since they're nerfing Weapon Focus to no longer apply to Implement attacks, dagger Sorcerers will need a replacement.

Very general.
Choose an implement with which you have proficiency...

It says that Mages with Evocation use Constitution, where does this come into play? Do any of the wizard spells use Con for some of their effects?

Never mind.
