A real shame, but entertainment media rarely gives armor it's due. It is a real Wall Banger that this movie suffers from Paper Mache Armor syndrome.

Let's see, we can claim the Chaos Marines' armor is degraded by the warp, so they don't stand up to modern bolt rounds as well. Or something. Maybe they're adamantium-tipped or something.

Also, the movie wouldn't be as much fun if a squad wasn't able to mow down its enemies like wheat.
