New web-based content?

Back when there was the ton of hoopla over the missed DDI update, I recall hearing that there were rumors of 'new web-based content' coming to DDI, and that's about all the detail I ever heard. Then my prospects for getting a game going faded, so I stopped following the boards here.

Have we heard anything new about this?

Not afaik. There are lots of rumors, in particular the idea of Character Builder becoming online only, but there is nothing but speculation at this point and I think the rumors out there are entirely based upon this sort of thing:

"I hope they don't do X" --> "I heard they were doing X" --> "They're doing X."

I can't use the DDI tools because of a .NET update glitch to Windows XP SP3, so a web-based version would be great.

Actually it's not a rumor that something is coming, that has been confirmed. As to when, all we know is that we should be told more "soon".

Of course, my kids are glad I do not have the same definition of soon as WotC - or I would never get around cooking food for them

Huh? I'm sitting at a WinXP sp3 machine right now and it runs very well here. If it's just a glitch on your installation, it should be possible to fix.

IMO the changes they made in the last release (choosing a Human's racial feature for example) suggests that they aren't going to be going to a web-only model.

Having a web option as well would be nice but I like having my character on my computer.

I think he's talking about the CB becoming web only rumor as opposed to he web tools coming "soon" statement.
