We've just added the Hacklopedia of Beasts hardcover to our webstore for pre-order! Ordering now gets you not only the hardcover when it ships, but also the BETA PDF as it appears now, and all future PDF updates as we add pages and improve it before it goes to the printer.

You can read more details on the product page HERE.

There's also a free preview of a classic Kingdoms of Kalamar/HackMaster critter, the Sturm Wolf, HERE.

It's going to be an amazing book, with Dangerous Denizens-like details (but better!) and Aces & Eights quality combined!

Definitely check out that preview people! Stat blocks for HM are relatively simple, so I have found them to be easy to adapt to Castles and Crusades, or any early edition of D&D. So similar systems will likely be easy too.

Plus the fluff info, medicinal uses, spell component uses, trophy items, are all nice touches usable in any RPG.

This book is a whole new level of awesome. I can't wait to see the physical product, but the pdf itself is just fantastic! I can't think of a single flaw... or even of a single quirk! :)

Is this for the current Hackmaster Basic game? (or the old WOTC licensed version)

This looks awesome- reminds me somewhat of the SAGA Dragonlance Bestiary circa 1998- (best "monster manual" ever, IMO)

Hi JeffB!

Everything that Kenzer & Company makes is for the new HackMaster game. The first release for the new game was HackMaster Basic. The Hacklopedia of Beasts is the first of three planned releases in 2011 that will expand the rules and options something considerable. (The other two are the Player's Handbook and the GameMaster's Guide, all of which will hopefully be out by GenCon!)

Kurt is correct. :)

As of this writing, purchasers of the Hacklopedia of Beasts pre-order can now download the BETA PDF version 2.0 (just go into your store account and re-download from the same link).

BETA 2.0 makes a number of tweaks based on in-house and reader feedback, adds in some more monsters and additional gameplay info in the form of a rules introduction and appendices.
