Ahh, this was my initial assumption as well. He certainly fits the part quite well. But his character sheet at the back of the comic lists him as a Fighter (with the Knight build from Essentials).
Really? Weird. All the interviews and releases during the lead-up mentioned Adric Fell as being a warlord...

Weird bit: the rogue tells the paladin to call off the undead, and he replies "they're not mine! These are evil!"

Hammerfast reference?

I'd need to see where they're going with it. As a general rule, I think it's a bad idea to introduce 5 characters in one scene, though.

Hmm, is anyone technically getting introduced, though? #1 isn't the first issue, #0 is, which does split up the introductions a bit.

Might be a difference in timing: the cover also shows Adric wielding a straight sword without the cavalry guard around his hand; so, perhaps the cover was done earlier based on a Fighter with a longsword, but the comic inside had him being a Warlord wielding a saber?
(If so, which was done earlier--the cover or the interior? The cover might have been finished faster, as it's basically one large image and a lot of text.)

Or maybe the communication was shaky between the team doing the cover and the team doing the actual comic?

That part caught me for a bit too - if you look at the panel or page beforehand, it looks like Bree is mocking the paladin, and so I'm guessing the line meant she at first assumed the zombies are his divine retribution or some such.

Can we get these electronically?

I am quite keen. Is there other DnD comics out there? I got the first DL book comic and it was a bit lame, missing out a lot (I mean, Raistlin cheering when the Disks of Mish. were recovered, WTF?). But comics that tell their own DnD story look cool for an easy read... as long as I can get them electronically.

It was amusing and I think I'll pick up the next few issues. It's not especially artsy or high concept, but that's just fine with me.

Non- D&D Comics that exist.

Tales of the Drgaon Guard (Limited Series)

Ongoing Series/Trades, Conan The Barbarian, Red Sonja, Groo, Robert Jrodon--the Wheel of Time, George RR Martin's--Doorways (released next week from IDW Publishing), Mouse Guard :Legend of the Moise Guard, Knights of the Dinner Table, Savage Sword Of Kull, The Guild. These are just examples.

The old D&D comics books (Dragonlance, Forgotten Reealms, etc) have never gone to trade, if memory serves me well. If they did, I just missed them

I love comics, but I wouldn't buy this based on the strength of the preview. I really disliked the dialogue, it was painful to me. The art isn't terrible (not great either though) and certainly wouldn't put me off if I liked the writing. Some things like the flippy elf panel really aren't that well done however.

But more than any other things the tielfling wearing her staff on her back drives me nuts, it's a videogame-ism that I absolutely hate, it looks so dumb.

I think it looks great. I also really like the first cover, which seems to be a bit of a shift away from the "iconic character" look.
