[NEW] BattleMAP'R - Online tool for quickly creating/printing battlemaps

First Post
Hey all!

Wanted to let you know about a tool myself and a co-worker made called BattleMAP'R (BattleMAPR.com). We are opening it up early (in it's ALPHA state) to get feedback and to show you what it's about.

What is it? It's a simple online tool that allows you to select and place down tiles, then generate a PDF of your creation to save and/or print!

Here's a screenshot...

Current Features

-- Online tool means you can use it from any computer (with internet access)
-- It works on Mac's right now!
-- It works on the iPhone and Droid Incredible (all we have played with so far)
-- Place tiles across multiple layers
-- Show/Hide those layers

It has only a basic tileset right now, but it is fully functional, including the ability to generate PDF's of your creations. This is an ALPHA version, as I mentioned, so it is really bare bones at the moment, but we have a lot of ideas for future updates and are soliciting more!

Some future updates include...

-- The ability to "fill" a layer with a tile type
-- The ability to log into an account and access any map you have made
-- Flag any of your maps as "public" to share with others (who can then rate them)
-- Create your own tilesets and share them (if you choose to)
-- Generate a PDF of your map. Save it to print later, or print it right away!

After we push out a release, we will be polling those who are using it, asking them to choose from a set of updates we are considering for the next release. The popular choice(s) will be implemented next, so you have a say in the process (if you choose to).

Oh, and did I mention - this is now, and will continue to be FREE!

Anyway, check it out if you get a chance.

Thanks!

Potentially very cool, but I'm using a Notebook and the screen format puts the toolbar right over the tile. I can scroll up and down on the tile, but not so much that the tile is no longer covered.

It would be helpful if you had a layout that put the toolbar completely to the right of the tile (maybe an alternate version).

Also, I'm not on Twitter. Is that the only way to give feedback at your site?

Yea, we will be adjusting the layout in the next release to better account for those with shorter (wider) screens, etc.

As for feedback, we were only passing this around via Twitter for a while, but as of this morning there is an email address for feedback on the site (it's feedback_at_battlemapr_dot_com).

Thanks for reminding me to get that up ;)

Hey Rune - we just released BattleMAP'R v0.2.0!

And guess what? You can now drag some of those windows around!

We also added the ability to export your map as a JPEG and fill a layer with a selected tile :)

We mention you in the release notes too. We highlight some of the people who have asked for features that we end up adding (when we can)...

Thank you.

I can now see the entire tile, but the Tileset window does not come up (maybe still under the tile where I can't access it on my notebook). Perhaps you could have a button on the control panel that would pop it up? (The control panel moves around just fine, by the way, but is already out of the way.)
