Cthonian Stars...

Nice. It's like Star*Drive mixed with Cthulu. Reminds me of a story from the Star*Drive compilation novel Starfall, titled Point of Contraction by Gary A. Braunbeck.

Looks very promising.:D

Realize that the people behind this also worked on Cthulthu-Tech

CthulhuTech

Now I normally have disliked Lovecraft and Cthulthu, but Cthulthu Tech and Chthonian Stars have shown me that I can have fun with such games.

Plus the planned expansions for Stars, if they do get put out, where they cover new "generations" of the fight going on in future time periods appeals to me greatly.

Normally I hate being constrained with such an over arcing plot, but with Cthulthu, it makes sense.

Plus in C-Tech and C-Star you are not necessarily destined to go mad and die for nothing other than to buy more time for others to live. You might ultimately win. Even if you die doing it. That I can get into.

Yeah, I keep wanting to try CthulhuTech, but I've never been able to get into a game at a con. Not a lot of sessions at the local cons, unfortunately. And I'm not that big of a Cthulhu fan, in practice (my gut reaction to the whole "you can't win" is Kirk-esque, shall we say?).

There is also Cthulhu Rising which explores 23rd century CoC.

I've mixed elements of d20 Cthulhu into T20 with minimal effort in a sci-fi game I run. Fomalhaut becomes an interesting star. Also, dimensional shamblers are less of a problem if you have rocket-propelled grenades.

Try to come out to Neon Con in Vegas next year. Game with me and Rob. Lots of gaming, aside from D&D, to be had. Board Games too.

I agree, the "can't win" has always bugged me too, but apparently in these game variations, the possibility of ultimate victory is possible.

Oooh! Nice resources! I already have Cthulthu 6E and the BRP rule book, so I have your site bookmarked now.

Yeah, I was thinking about going last year, but I bought a house instead. I will have to see if I can afford it this year. I'm going to DunDraCon next month, and want to try to go to KublaCon again in May, so it'll be iffy.

Meanwhile, back on topic, Chthonian Stars uses Mongoose's Traveller system. Is WildFire going to translate CthulhuTech into Trav, too?
