Hope it does well for the guy but at $20 a pop on cover he's got to break $120.

Part of the problem with PDF is that if you just want the material, that's still available.

If he can break even with used books, its still quite an accomplishment.

I've been curious for a while what the actual market value on the first AP is at the moment. There is a copy of just the first book up for sale for $120, and you see it on Amazon everynow and then for $100+ (up to $1000 at one time but I am given to understand that is a gimmick sellers use when they only have one of a book in order to keep it in stock until they can get more.)

Of course, just because a seller asks a certain price does not actually mean the market will bear that price. So an auction like this is a good way to gauge true market value (for any given time at least).

While I've seen the first one for sale at those prices I've listed one for trade for well over two years and never gotten so much as a inquiry over it.

Judging by the "recommended for you" listings below, it looks like #3 is the rare one, which makes sense. Everyone buys the first installment. Half of the people that go "meh" are too lazy to discontinue their subs before #2 comes out. Then #3 dips, but word of mouth spreads and people that initially balked start up their subs by 4 or 5.

EDIT: As an interesting test, let's see how rare the 3rd installment of Serpent Skull is in a couple years. Lots of people subbed for Kingmaker and a goodly number of them likely dropped their subs afterwards.
