Why is there no talk about the Castle Keepers Guide preview?

Eh. The same people are on the threads on multiple related sites. It's not like these are separate conversations isolated from one another.

Now, if completely separated forums are having similar discussions, then it'd be a lot more suggestive.

I'm not on multiple related sites criticizing the CKG's writing and editing.

(...quoting my comment)

English is not my main language, so please excuse.

I am so sorry. Your choice of words was just fine. I was making a play on them. I didn't even notice your nationality! Your english is just fine.

PM me if you want me to explain further. ;)

Yea, I had a hard time with a lot of the writing style that the gang at Troll Lord uses. I have a bunch of their books (and only got the original couple of C&C books, though never played it).

The only person I have heard of that plays C&C consistently is Treebore, and if he hasn't commented on it, then I am not sure what to say.

I also play CnC and purchase products from Troll Lords. I've personally met the team and sold their products successfully at military bases before the retro clone movement really took off. That said, I agree with the editing issues, but I still admire the company for their intent and chances that they take, if not the quality of the text.

My old group ran C&C for awhile, but the system ran out of steam for us early on. A large part of that was due to a high level of excitement and anticipation about Castle Zagyg and the CKG, neither of which would materialize until years after we quit. :erm:

The pricing of the .pdf seems off by $10-20, it seems like they could sell a lot more of them at a more reasonable price point for an electronic product, and it seems to have generated some poor feedback to the Trolls. I would be interested to hear the reasoning behind the pricing.

Nor am I.

The first glance at the CKG seems to confirm what I epxected when I purchased the product: some really good ideas but some grim text as well (the winner, so far, was a very confusing sentance about WWI ace fighter pilots -- the idea was neat but the execution really required multiple sentances).

I have a bunch of d20 stuff by the Trolls, but no C&C (except the Zagyg stuff). Next time we game at your place, I'd like to check out the C&C books.

I am criticising the writing of the CKG on multiple websites. That is, two: this one and RPG.net. Apparently this means i have an axe to grind, and lo: my axe is named bad writing. And because i dual-wield axes (left hand: RPGinkle, right hand: ENDeath), i post in two threads with similar topics. Amazingly, i am critical in both, because i find the writing in the CKG to be bad.

Purely theoretical, if another thread would pop up on another board i visit, i would chime in with a similar opinion. Sadly, i cannot carry three axes at once.

My hard cover copy was finally shipped to me yesterday, so I'll be able to give an informed opinion about the CKG in a week or two. I'll even be looking for errors, compound and run on sentences, etc...

The writing "style" is their "style" so if you don't like that, nothing can be done about it. Gygax had received a lot of criticism for his "style" over the years too, so I think the Trolls can handle that criticism.
