I was hoping it would answer whether the Heros book character writeups are 4E or Essentials style. Guess I'll wait for the previews.

I really like the new adventuring gear. Ghoul candle was cool. "Fashioned from fat rendered by a slain ghoul" = awesome. The fluff about golems in Gloomwrought was inspiring as well. One thing that I'm a bit concerned about when it comes to the new Monster Vault book, is that the new monsters will just be weird fringe monsters, like the floating head with entrails (I know this is a "classic" monster, but still). I really don't need counters for floating heads with entrails, I need counters for more NPCs and semi-staple monsters.

I hear you. But that's precisely the kind of thing I'm interested in. Penanggalan and Perytons are back? Woot! This is clearly the doing of Mr. Mearls again.

I wasn't interested in the MV: Nentir Vale before, but now I am!

I would have vastly prefered to see a MM4 hardcover book including these monsters, but if I have to swallow the toad of yet another unwieldy box full of tokens I'll never use and a frail mini paperback in order to get these monsters, I'll do so.

I was really enjoying the Black Hound until I actually opened the preview. So the whole PP is based around the idea of you having this companion and how terrifying it is... and it's a daily summon.

So you get the terrifying companion that defines 10 levels of your career for 5 minutes a day? I'm really hoping that the cut off pages redeem that somehow.

Really glad to see that Heroes of Shadow hasn't fallen by the wayside. My impression is that my favourite sorts of characters will be contained within that book; those who walk the line between good and evil.

For now, I'm going to assume that it being a daily is a mistake since it's the 11th level power and 11th level is suppose to be an encounter power.

Yeah, that's a little hard to stomach. On the other hand, it's a paragon path, not a full-fledged class, so they had a choice between making the Black Hound a daily summon or making it a pathetic weenie. Either way it's not going to live up to its billing.

If you ask me, this should have been a PP for classes that already get animal companions, letting you replace your companion with a Black Hound.

It's a daily utility. I'm pretty sure the 11th-level attack power is "Hound's Baying," mentioned at the end of the second page (statblock is presumably on the page 3 that we didn't get).
