The "HATE" Thread

SOME say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

I hate players that assume that every DM hides behind his screens and simply makes up crap to suit his own agenda.

I hate posters who think that just because they have had a bunch of GMs they claim are bad who from their posts seem to think every GM who isn't in their group is therefore inevitably bad.

And by far, most of all: I hate players that think the work and effort of the DM simply doesn't matter, at all, that the - in some cases thousands of hours - the DM has invested to meticulously create a world, the continents, nations, forest, mountains (etc etc) and inhabitants, guys we're talking creating a frigging planet from his imagination, then taking the time to put it on paper - deserves no credit, and he is actually openly sneered at for daring to claim it is "his" world, and his is the final say upon it.

Sometimes even if it's not the GMs work. The authors of the setting defined some parameters for me. I defined some more. Compromise is not telling the GM he really means "yes".

I hate people who think small groups of people who actually get along with each other are somehow a bad thing.

I dislike GMs that forget that the goal is to entertain everyone at the table.

I hate players who don't understand that in order for me to run a game that's fun for them, it has to be fun for me too.

I hate player entitlement.
I hate GM superiority complexes.

I hate people who think an adversarial player/GM relationship is inevitable.

I hate posters who claim to believe in benefit of the doubt, then no more than a sentence later in their post list the exact definition as well as their disagreement with it and thereby prove that they don't believe in it at all.

I hate people who automatically assume when someone says they don't have a lot of time for gaming that it's somehow a cop-out.

I hate chimichangas. Quit trying to deep fry my !^#%#^&((#% burrito!

I hate Gazebos, 'nuff said.

I hate puppies and kitties. Sometimes I really want to kick something and there they sit all cute and unkickable.

I hate mint. It's a punishment, not a seasoning/herb.

I hate to admit it, but I'm also with Jester. Just because I can lift it easily enough doesn't mean I like hauling all over the planet.

Thirty odd years of hate comin' at ya -

I hate GMs who get stoned halfway through the game, then lose track, while thinking their games are wonderful.
I hate GMs who 'have a story to tell'. (As GM the job is to set up the situations, and let the characters tell the story.)
I hate GMs who always play favorites among the characters.
I hate GMs who always single out a single player as a scapegoat when things go wrong.
I hate GMs who come up with strange house rules then don't do the bleedin' math to realize that they don't work!
I hate GMs who come up with complicated, math heavy, house rules, then don't try to simplify them (never mind why I'm looking at a mirror and have my Piecemeal Armor rules in front of me1).

I hate players who get stoned halfway through the game, then lose track, while thinking their playing is wonderful.
I hate players who are only there because someone else is there.
I hate players that drag their nongaming husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend to the game and ask them to play.2
I hate players that don't take 'no' as an answer.
I hate players who don't think things through.
I hate players who complain when their characters are hanged for committing public murder/fireballing a town guard/threatening a cleric in front of their congregation/killing an orc when there is a peace treaty and carrying the head into town.... (See above.)

I hate being the only person at the table who isn't stoned. (And I am not going to get stoned!)

1 I really like those rules, but I need to simplify them - having tassets, pauldrons, copps, gauntlets, helmets, cods, and plackarts all as separates pieces that can be worn without the rest of the armor may make sense, but....

2 I have seen it work, but not if the victim is dragged to the game. A willing sacrifice is much more likely to work.

I hate players who only show up because they haven't got anything better to do, then spend the whole session doing nothing but tapping, huffing, looking at their wristwatch, and interjecting with inane out-of-turn off-topic comments!

I hate DMs who are very conservative in the way they interpret rules and rulings when running the game, but when they are players in my game, min/max like mad and try to get away with murder (such as trying to get away with the same rules loopholes they called players on).

I hate DMs who don't use screens.

Yes thank you MR roll in the open. You overpowered the monsters and the dice are against us and we are rolling 1s and you are rolling crit after crit. Wow that TPK sure was a lot of fun and now the game we really have been enjoying is over.

I hate DMs who won't even look at an class or a feat from a non official source.

I hate players who when told no things from non approved books without DM consent try and sneak them in anyways.

I hate players who love throwing spells that suck levels and paralyze NPCs get all whiny when it happens to them.

I hate players who think it is okay for them to use vorpal swords but it is not okay for the NPCs to use them.
