Syfy cancels Eureka

Filming for the 5th season ends this month.

Ok, I'm confused. My understanding is that they are currently airing the second half of the 4th season. Are you saying they film episodes so far in advance, that they are almost finished filming the 5th season, which won't even air for several months?

If so, then times have really changed. I remember reading that the original Star Trek episodes were filmed so close to the air date, they created the two part episode "The Cage" as filler, in case production ever ran over (which it did).

In those several months, there's probably post-production work (like CGI special effects) going on. December isn't all that far off, in terms of getting complicated work done.

I'm not all that surprised.

I like the show, but for me, it was basically candy to me. Too many plot holes, etc., for me to take it seriously.

For instance, this latest episode- Omega Girls?- everybody gets knocked out due to something in an injection. My question...where was Deputy Andy?

So while I enjoyed watching the show, it always came across to me as somewhat...half as good as it should have been.

Not to claim the show doesn't have its plot holes (boy howdy!), but Allison/Beverly did have the throw away line of "Reprogramming Andy". I'd be happy (but surprised) if that didn't come back to bite the town later.

As for the cancelation: Its SyFy. If they haven't cancelled a show this year, the world has ended.
