Best blogs and posts about world-building

Lately, I have been playing around with a new campaign setting. As of now, I am in a start-up phase, writing down ideas and fragments thereof, while re-reading some of all the books on campaign and world-building.

I was however wondering if there are any must-read blogs or posts on the subject?

Atm all topics relating to world-building are of interest, but especially stuff about

1) creating religions
2) building a believable geography
3) making social structures

and many more.

Thanks in advance.

I must admit that this thread has had a surprisingly low number of responses. I wonder if it's because most people get their world-building advice from the numerous books on the subject, or because the topic has been done to death recently (I have been away for a while).

Cheers

These days I believe that world-building is a completely separate and different activity from creating a setting to be used for roleplaying.

The less detailed the setting the better does it work for an rpg. Making stuff up on the spot (or just-in-time when preparing for a session) beats highly-detailed background material (almost) every time. Everything you define in advance is a lost chance to tailor the setting to fit your group's current needs.

Creating a fantasy world in excruciating detail can be fun for its creator but it's rarely fun for the players that are supposed to embody characters in it.
I'd only ever attempt it in collaboration with _all_ the players to make sure everyone is equally invested in the process of world-building.

If you're still interested in world-building, I've found [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Aria-Worlds-Canticle-Monomyth/dp/096459031X]Aria Worlds[/ame] to be a good resource to guide you through the process.

Whatever you do: Good luck with your new campaign! :)
