I thought dryads were tied to a tree, thus couldn't leave it? Why would a tree spirit go out adventuring?Hamadryad: Hamadryads are the enchanting spirits of oak trees. At one with nature, they can be as calm as the autumn sunset one moment and as violent as a thunderstorm the next.
Emphasis mine.In the coming weeks, we'll look to these element in Heroes of the Feywild: the places, the races, the new class powers (foe to frog, savage transformation), themes, and subclasses (including the witch!) Until then, we leave you with one of the many bard's tales from the book, concerning our friend, the satyr:
I thought dryads were tied to a tree, thus couldn't leave it? Why would a tree spirit go out adventuring?
The Dryad needs more power to protect her tree and her forest. There's a threat to her tree/forest and needs to go out and kill it. The Dryad is tasked by druids to gather wealth for their grove. The Dryad decides she wants an adventurer's, non-cowards death, as opposed to sitting scared at home (the tree, in this case.) The Dryad needs to find a place to relocate her tree. The Dryad needs to find a way to detach her spirit from the tree.Perhaps I should rephrase.
Since the dryad dies if the tree dies, isn't it a little... stupid to go out adventuring rather than stay with your tree?
