The Slithering Hoard and other missing beasts

Cleon

Legend
I was just flicking through a monster index yesterday and came across the Slithering Hoard from the Forgotten Realms' adventure Wyrmskull Throne (1999).

This doesn't seem to have an "official" 3E conversion, nor does it appear in the Enworld Creature Catalog.

Checking Echohawk's index, it's listed as having a 3E conversion in Eric Boyd's Bestiary of the Realms, Volume 2, but that isn't any more official than Enworld's homebrews and, frankly, I didn't like that conversion much (it adds an adhesive special attack and takes away one of the original Hoard's two attacks).

So, anyone game to convert it?

More to the point, what other creatures are we missing?

I'm fine with converting it, of course! :) I think the real question is whether we want to prioritize converting critters that haven't been converted at all yet or just going for anything we haven't converted ourselves. Of course, we can do both, too. :D

Well I'm heading towards the "let's do both" solution, although I'm thinking most earlier edition monsters probably have 3E conversions somewhere by now.

The main reason the Slithering Hoard attracted my attention was remember the Finishing of the Oozes thread we'd completed - I didn't think there were any clear candidates for the Ooze type left, I didn't realize the selection excluded some non-WotC 3E conversions like the Realms Bestiary.

Speaking of that source, it also makes me realize our Creature Catalog doesn't have the Flareater or Subterranean Puddings (Stone Pudding, Dense Pudding & Gray Pudding) from Ruins of Undermountain II & Monstrous Compendium Annual 2.

So, shall we resurrect the Oozes thread?

I'm just guessing based on my recollection of when we got down to 1000 monsters to go, but we must have quite a few hundred completely unconverted ones left. Granted, I guess that means "most" have been converted. ;)

I'm happy to resurrect the ooze thread, though I wouldn't mind waiting till we can pause some other thread. I'm having a hard enough time keeping up --- starting a new job is busy, busy, busy!

This forum IS a full time job. :)

I'm never opposed to converting already-unofficially-converted creatures. I prefer to tackle 'em when we're doing related beasties (like the Mystaran lizardfolk), but don't mind the occasional other. Reviving the "dead" threads for those purposes seems ideal, since it's not preventing an unconverted creature from getting its first treatment.

Of course, as freyar pointed out, we're not quite keeping up with all we've got going right now.

I don't mind waiting until we've finished a few of the current Works In Progress before reviving the Finishing Off The Oozes thread.
