GM: Combat over, great job everyone! :)

*clap* *clap* *clap*

The party quickly turns around and finds the noise coming from where the other Akriel used to be. In her place is a tall middle-age man with thick, wavy back hair, a finely trimmed black beard, and a long, pointy mustache. He wears a fine costume of azure silk trousers, a white ruffled shirt, a gold coat and a wide brimmed blue hat with white feathers. Despite his foppish appearance you sense an unmistakeable aura of power and evil about him. With surprise you find that Duke Lakos is sitting right before you!

I must commend you on the most impeccable entertainment! he says raising his glass of wine towards the party in toast. You notice he is holding a ring in his left hand, one that the other Akriel had on before. I knew my daughter was in league with this vampire (and I must say, falling in love with a vampire at her age?), but I never knew she actually got as far as plotting against me! I warned her, but do they ever listen? You recall him mentioning "change" and "vampire" when you first came upon him.

But where are my manners? he says getting up. My name is Harkon Lukas, lord of this land! he gives a theatrical bow. You met my daughter Akriel of course, he says gesturing to her dead body. No doubt when we first met and you "rescued" her she filled your head with some nonsense about an evil uncle or suitor or some sort. She would never fess up that she was going to be punished for being a very bad doggy by her own father.

No doubt she was going to use this toy you found to hatch some scheme against me. he says walking over to the dust that was once was Dr. Dominiani and gesturing to the crown. I am sure it would end with my death and one or the other taking over my domain; with the perquisite backstabbing and plot twists thrown in of course.

He picks up the crown and there is a flash of bright light. Suddenly you find yourself flying overhead. The city of Daunton is burning beneath you, overrun by thousands of Goblyns. You give an eerily familiar cackle of glee as you claim another island for your own.

Another flash. This time you are in the midst of a great battle. You turn to see Jax eviscerating a nearby Goblyn while Brenn and Andras fill another full or arrows. With urging from Quagmire Dorn shots a bolt of arcane energy at a nearby figure, toppling it to the ground. You raise your axe and slice into its mummy like skin. With a shriek it crumbles into dust.

Another flash, you find yourself back in the room. It seems that what you saw were only illusions. Or were they visions of the future? You notice that Harkon Lukas has dropped the crown and that the hand he picked it up with is burned. I see this new toy is not to be mine. he says.

Well the plot thickens! It looks like you adventurers have your work cut out for you! he says, smiling. I sensed a that new domain, Daglan, has formed to the west. It seems like whoever you stole this bauble from has returned. No doubt she will be wanting it back so she can make with the burning of your poor peasant village!

Before you leave to put an end to this menace I would like to thank you for stopping my daughter for me. I will let her stew in whatever afterlife she ends up in for a while before I resurrect her. I hear they have a whole plane devoted to traitors! As for the vampire, nothing a dustpan cannot handle.
Harkon Lukas says laughing.

I believe it is customary to reward you, but I am sure you are far too busy with the saving of your village to accept!
Lukas says with a grin. Go to Daglan! Save the peasants and make me proud!

GM: Just to be clear, Akriel lied to you. Her father is not in love with her.

Sir Exsixten stares at Lakos as he speaks. When he finally stops, Sir Exsixten looks at the group while pointing his axe at Lakos. SIR EXSIXTEN'S EVIL PROCESSORATOR IS ON THE FRITZ STILL FROM WHEN SIR EXSIXTEN CAUGHT A STRONG CASE OF LUPINUS EVILICUS EARLIER. DO WE NEED TO DUKE IT OUT WITH THIS DUKE TOO?

As Quagmire listens to the Duke's story, his eyes grow progressively wider and wider in disbelief. "Graaah! What is it with ye daft folks on this island, and yer stupid, crazy, backwards twisty plots? Mark my words, one o' these days, a great buggerin' army is gonna land here, led by an idiot with a great big sword and no plan at all, and they are gonna crush the lot of ye like bugs, burn the whole place down, and good riddance!"

Dorn steps next to Harkon, asking a brief word in private.

[sblock=DM only]
I wonder, Dorn says, trying to appear nonchalant, can you tell me anything about this? he says, lifting his cloak and exposing one of the wounds caused by Sir Exsixten. I have an awfully bad feeling about it...

DO WE NEED TO DUKE IT OUT WITH THIS DUKE TOO?

"It's confusing, I'll admit, but I don't think any duke-duking will be needed. Yet." Andras then turns to the duke, "So... you want us to just... go west? Just start walking and eventually we'll get to this 'Daglan' place? Is that what we saw when you picked up the crown? And speaking of, since you can't seem to use it, I guess we'll just take it back. I mean, it's not doing you any good, right?"
