Maps and Regional Golarian information

Rise of the Rune Lords is coming to a close, players are preping for a future campaign that which will take place in Katapesh.

I have been given a PDF that helped out some but gives me no information about the neighboring areas.

GM quote-
"Most of the PCs should be from Katapesh, or one of the adjacent nations (Mwangi Expanse, Osirion, Nex, Jalmeray, Qadira)."

The idea I have is shield and Bastard Sword welding Fighter (think European fighter type). Should have been a free gladiator if his father had his way, but he failed in the training and became a guard. Later a mercenary for caravan work (thus he can be, go anywhere). But the GM wants people from the "...adjacent nations..."

Can you all point me in the right direction of some low cost (better yet- free) information on the area? And or suggest a region to be from within the area?

Trying to think of a different idea- Middle Eastern nature, fighter. Emm.
