revelation about bards

i just had a revelation about bards.

the bard can use a longsword, a shield, wear light armor, cast minor utility/buff/healing spells (even while wearing armor and holding a shield), and can use musical instruments.

is it just me, or does that sound like this guy?

wow, i may have just found a reason to like the bard.

The only flaw with your logic is that having an annoying companion whose only job is to point out things isn't a bard class feature.

Easily explained as an annoying GMPC. Especially with regards to how much you want to teamkill them.

...Or it's a way of adding annoying fluff to Bardic Knowledge.
