I'd say the orcs coming out wave after wave is more of a GM style thing. We didn't have the issue of waves, even when accidentally killing almost the whole gnoll tribe.

They called for reinforcements once and then it took a bit for them to arrive.

Your cleric of Palor seems very... unusual. But we shouldn't talk, we got the goblin young folk to color the clothes of their chiefs red, blue and purple. I never thought I'd see so many naked goblins (or naked anythings) in any game. :blush:

Our rogue never really got to use sneak attack in the first attempts. Bad luck in the game, really. I hope the last session still to come will give him a chance.

Did you have any issues with the fighter? We didn't think him underpowered. First time in a looong while I enjoyed playing a fighter other than a paladin.

Probably not the best approach to promote the "Theater of the Mind" play style among newcomers...

We were given supplies worth up to 10 gp. My Rogue borrowed the Crossbow and Bolts from the Fighter, since (like was common, apparently), the Fighter didn't want the crossbow. The Elf Wizard wanted to throw away his torches, since he could already cast Light (again, apparently this is common).

I've DM'd for a fighter and I've played the Fighter. Why wouldn't you want the Crossbow. Still good damage. Still can use your Surges. Still deal 1 damage on a miss. We stood behind a wall of fire and I finished off a Hobgoblin with 2 "misses", ruled, that the bolts bounced off a barrel to deal splinter damage, finishing off the Hobgoblin Archer.

And why wouldn't the Wizard want a torch? Our Wizard used a grease spell inside a doorway and then proceeded to light it on fire with a throw torch the next round.

Finally, when having issues with the rogue not getting advantage enough, remember that at 3rd level, the rogue is doing 3d6 more damage with that Sneak attack. So any options you give at 1st will be used AND ABUSED at 3rd and higher.
