I had the option to run another night of kid's D&D. Last time it was 5 players, the oldest being 11, and the average around 8. This time we threw another 8 year old into the mix, and a 4 year old....the 4 year old grew bored about 30 minutes in and played Minecraft, so that worked out.

All the previous kids asked to play again, so that was a good indicator. With the addition of the two new ones, the number of players grew to 7. Far too many for the age group. We played for a couple hours, took a dinner/run around break, and wrapped up with another hour of play. The end was an extreme test of patience.

My daughter told me the new player was telling all his friends, "It's better than any video game!"
I don't know that I have much more to say than that.

Next time you have that many, recruit the 11 year old to "run" the game, and just be his "advisor". If you can, work with him or her for a couple of hours ahead of time to create an adventure and help him plan how to run it, and what to do/not do.

More power to you!
