Hi,

Just a quick heads up that Defenders of Midgard, a player's guide to the Midgard Campaign setting, that I worked on with Brian Liberge, Paul Baalham and John Pope is out today at drivethrurpg.com. The book is full colour and contains themes, schools of magic, backgrounds and gear for Kobold Press' excellent Midgard campaign setting, and costs just $4.99/£3.09.

If you combine this with the Midgard Bestiary for 4e and the campaign setting, you should be able to run a fantastic Midgard campaign.

Cheers

Quick review after a pass through last night - I like it, though it seems a little bare. I wish the siege mage wasn't so conditional, and I'd hoped the gearforged racial stats would be included, but otherwise it seems good. I especially like the Mage schools.

EDIT: ...Except that they neglected Enigmatic Mage powers/features.

Glad you liked it! What's an Enigmatic Mage?

The Enigmatic Mage is the Mage Paragon Path in Heroes of the Fallen Lands; each Mage School gives that PP a unique action point feature at level 11, and three unique powers for levels 11, 12, and 20; for an example, see the Enchantment School, on page 238 of HotFL.

A mage doesn't need to take the Enigmatic Mage PP, but he can't if he wants to and his school doesn't have the features and powers. Worse comes to worst, I'll design some stuff myself, but I can't really call the school complete without 'em.

Ah, gotcha. We ran out of space in Defenders of Midgard but this sounds like a good topic for a KQ web article or two....

That's true. I really would have liked to add in some Paragon Options but due to space we ended up focusing on the Heroic Tier. I think it helped us to provide a more balanced spread of options so most PCs could find something to use.

I would like to note it's /not/ houseruling to allow a mage to select a PP other than Enigmatic Mage, as that review seems to be implying; that's explicitly allowed by the rules.
