Pretty much what this says. Since official support is all but done, im wondering where the fans are gathering to keep 4th alive.

IDK Russ, not sure I would consider ENWorld as a whole a bastion for the 4e fan. Far more forum traffic for NEXT,.PF, and 3.5. Heck even 13th age is getting as much or more traction than 4e.

That said,. I am not sure there is any place better than ENWorld either.

No reason it CAN'T be here. The next big thing is always going to get more talk and traffic than the same old stuff, but there's plenty of 4e talk going on, too. Heck, my last 2 or 3 articles have been more useful for 4e players than anyone else! :)

My advice would be to get organised and probably have your own site and keep releasing material as free downloads. AD&D has been out of print for 13 years but the OSR guys have done a lot of work.

There's lots of fan sites; generally if you find one it will have links to the other.

I don't know how many of them can generate content though, due to GSL restrictions. (I carefully read the document, for instance. I can make an NPC weaponmaster and distribute it, but not an Essentials knight, because the former is in the GSL and not the latter.)

Some of the 4e sites aren't generic, limiting their appeal.

4e is my favorite edition of D&D, and likely to be my game of choice for . . . ever? . . . but I don't think it'll ever generate the most discussion. It's not as interesting to talk about IMX, nor is it as necessary. 3.x requires some pretty deep system mastery, and has pretty arcane rules combos, and both of those drive conversations. In 4e you can slap together most PCs pretty easy and be effective and competent, and you can pick monsters almost at random and have them function well. You don't page after page of discussion for that.

The things about 4e campaigns that can generate lively discussions generally apply to all D&D campaigns - plot, setting, characters, etc. None of that warrants a specific 4e focus.

The GSL also limits format of licenced products to hard copies or PDFs and does not allow content on websites, blogs, forums. (Section 3.) Technically any website generating content violates the GSL.
WotC has a Fan Site Policy that includes a kit, but this explicitly does not allow mechanical content creation.

It's as concentrated a location as there is, outside WotC's own website; at least to my knowledge. There's a good amount of discussion if you look in this forum and house rules (filter by prefix to locate them easier)
