Umm, I'm the one that pointed out that they listed Hong Kong where Rio de Janeiro was located. My example in the next sentence (hence the word "also" in there) of showing Hong Kong was not related to Brazil or the map at all, it was related to Hong Kong and its location within China - as I said, by even showing Hong Kong is like showing Miami for a problem in Oklahoma. (check the geography of China - Hong Kong is in the Southeast of China, like Miami is in the US, while the giant wasp problem is in central China, similar to Oklahoma's location, or perhaps Kansas/Nebraska). Perhaps I should have worded it more clearly.

Except they showed Rio de Janeiro, which is not in China. Your example would have been correct if you would have mentioned Miami and Paris, for example.

Again, my comment was not related to Rio and Paris, for example, or the map of Brazil. It was related to Hong Kong's location within China. The story was about the wasps in China and they had "Hong Kong" listed in the wrong location, but it's still listed as Hong Kong (a city within China). Your example of Miami & Paris is not what I was saying at all.

My example is saying that last summer when the tornado destroyed that town in Oklahoma (like the wasps in central China), they showed the map of Brazil on TV with Rio labeled as Miami and the headline "Tornadoes devastate town in United States." So, putting the wrong country aside, the viewer would think that even though the map was wrong, the problem was in Miami, not Oklahoma. (or Hong Kong, instead of central China)

Indeed, Hong King is located in China, but South America is not in China. The story was about hornets in main land China and they showed Hong Kong... in South America. For your example to be accurate, example that started with Miami, you would have needed to place a USian city on another continent, thus why I mentioned Paris, who, if I must clarify, is on another continent.

He said that Hong Kong was shown where Rio is.

He then went on to say that the hornets weren't in Hong Kong; they're in China's northern Shaanxi province. And so even if the map has been correct, Hong Kong was the wrong location to show. They were two separate, unconnected observations.

Thanks for stating it more clearly than I did.

Yes, I like I said a few times already, he made a mistake and got one thing right. I know English ain't my language, but I think I was clear.

I'm curious; do you consider saying that Hong Kong was shown where Rio is the mistake, or is saying that the hornets aren't in Hong Kong the mistake? Because that's all he's said. I'm interested in which of those two things you think is incorrect? Though you do say English isn't your language; maybe you're misunderstanding him and think he said something else?
