About DDI and Compendium

Can you actually copy text when you look up something in the compendium? Not a snapshot or anything like that, but actual text as you would on a web page or other text document. I need to know this for... reasons.

Yes. I do this to dump monsters into the 4eTurnTracker tool.

You can copy and paste from Chrome getting most of the formatting, but often it turns the text white (on a white background).

You can copy and paste into programs, but you lose some or all of the formatting.

I have pasted content as plain text into both Windows Notepad and Wordpad, and into Metapad and Note Tab Light. When I do so, I lose things such as the Basic Attack symbol and other action symbols, and the recharge dice symbols, as well as the placement of wording such as "Druid Utility 6."

If you copy and paste from Chrome into Google docs (aka Drive), IME you keep most of the formatting.

Also, if you have better computer skills than me (and even know what to type instead of "computer skills") you might want to have a look at https://power2ool.com/ and see how it extracts information from the WotC database.

I understand scraping is not permitted under the DDi contract but there might be another way that is permissible.
