The Center of Time

Seregal suggests, "Maybe wait on the steps, Duncan?"

Then he steps forward, carefully observing Ohm, trying to work at what he's doing. "Is that safe?" he asks.

He also glances around to see if there any small items that can be scavenged around the area.

Xiaon, a Strong Willed Glaive who Focuses Mind over Matter

Xiaon prowls effortlessly forward, following Echo through the small door and into the chamber beyond. He glances around the room, instantaneously assessing the threats. His blindfolded gaze rests lightly upon the three 'statues' as he stands, poised to spring into action at the first sign of danger.

Wisco, a Tough Nano who lives in the Wilderness

Wisco watches as his companions, one by one leave the chamber through the odd little door. He makes no move to follow them. He feels oddly detached.

Settling himself on the floor by the spring he settles back against the stones to await their return. He closes his eyes and lets the sound of the water, accompanied by the ever-present rhythmic noise of the machine, wash over him. He feels tired. And still hungry.

Echo, as you looked down at Graygoo, your little silver puddle pet is looking rather... flat, as if it can't muster up the energy to form shapes with its usual enthusiasm. It still follows you, but at a slower pace.

Seregal, you take a look around the room. You quickly realize it is tightly and competently build, with no excess architectural features at all. You are reasonably certain with a bit of effort you could work some of the crystals loose, but that might be unwise while Ohm is in the middle of working with them. A prowl around the periphery does let you find one thing - there's a small secret panel in the wall, and a glimpse behind it reveals a sturdy lever with a crystal handle.

Ohm, you repeat the sequence over and over again, and more and more flakes fall away until there is a single sharp crack! The rest of the stone-like covering falls into dust and reveals the creature underneath. Its yellow eyes are very large, but it lacks both a mouth and a nose, its skull just tapering to a point like a chin. Its skin is deep green and slightly scaly, and there are apertures in its chest where breath whistles in and out of it. It stares at Ohm, and suddenly reaches out to grab its head in its huge, three-fingerer hand.

Xaion, on high alert, is there instantly, crossbow pointed at the being's chest in an unmistakably threatening posture. The being turns towards him and stretches out its other hand, and for a moment Xaion seems to... diminish.

[sblock=Xaion]GM intrusion - There is a feeling of being drained, and you feel your mental powers begin to diminish, your cyphers going dark. Using either Deflect Attack or your cyphers for a while will be two steps harder than normal. Accept intrusion, or no?[/sblock]

Above the chamber, Wisco and Duncan linger by the spring. Another batch of abhumans abruptly separate from the wall, but instead of floating off to the left plate like the last batch, they immediately "hatch" and begin to assemble in a formation. A pulse of color flashes from the ceiling, and the abhumans begin to march straight for the spring... and you!

The idea of slaying the abhumans flashes across Duncan's mind, but he lets the thought pass.

"We need to be with Echo. Fighting could turn this entire place against us."

Duncan heads down into the stairs as fast as he can, fighting back the nauseating sensation of all his implants on fire at once. Reaching the floor he heads over to Echo and the others.

"Echo, a band of the abhumans hatched and started coming towards us. Did you summon them?"

Duncan, as you reach the bottom of the stairs, things clearly just got... interesting. There are two statues of tall beings, but the third one is somehow free of his statue status and is gripping Ohm by the jaw, while holding its other hand out to Xaion, who seems to be in some small discomfort at the least. As you arrive, the being looks up at you and its eyes start to glow.

"I didn't summon them!" Echo calls back, flustered. "I think they're coming because we're waking up these creatures! There's a lever down here somewhere, but don't pull it if you see it! That'll release the other two too, I think!"

On seeing what's going on, when she gets close enough, she stops in dismay, and looks at the map...hoping for some idea of what they're up against, or how to try to defuse the situation.

Xiaon struggles hopelessly against the force that seems to be sucking away his life force. Regardless, Xiaon's heart sings; the challenge has been offered and accepted. Xiaon looks the creature in the eye, smiles, and pulls the trigger of his crossbow.

[sblock=OOC]Not sure I have a choice, no XP. Which makes this as good a time as any to get some. Intrusion accepted. 1 XP to Ohm for mixing things up. 'Cos mixing it up make Xiaon happy :)

Crossbow attack (Speed I think): Effort 2 + 1 Edge [roll0][/sblock]

Antor watches as Ohm and the others head towards the door and disappear down the stairs. As he makes his way to follow, he sees the abhumans detach from the wall and head that way as well. Realizing that perhaps going down the stairs may not have been such a good idea, Antor rushes to the door to question the abhumans as they get near.

"What are your orders?", Antor asks as they approach. "Do you plan to harm my companions for going down the stairs? Are you guarding something down there?", he'll ask quickly and loudly as he moves to stand directly in front of the stairs, hoping the others below can hear.

OOC: Antor will not pull a weapon unless the abhumans do first. He'll try to stand guard over the stairs.
