I hadn't thought of a genie pact before, but I like it.

Sorry, Genie Patron, and as another poster mentioned, it could be a good fit (chain pact) for the Sha'ir from Al-Qadim.

I am not too thrilled with the blade pact, I don't associate the word Warlock with being a melee-type.

One of my top 3 settings, and partly because there was no overarching meta-plot, busybody writers churning out novels and adventures that trash the original setting (like Time of Troubles, Age of Mortals, Prism Pentad, War of Souls, Grand Conjunction, Wars, Spellplague, Inhuman War II, Faction War malarkey).

Oh, The Complete Sha'irs Handbook also has some gems: The Clockwork Mage/Mechanician, amazing potential.

Actually Al-Qadim is a subsetting of the Forgotten Realms, so both the Spellplague and the Time of Troubles would have effected it. It was mentioned that the Spellplague effected it, but niether ToT or Spellplague's effects have been detailed.

…yes, but those clever enough avoid the nonsnese.

So a hexblade would be a blade pact.

What about an animal pact? I could see a dirty shaman type of character who has a pact with the spirits of animals
