I wonder how much - if any - FR flavour will appear in the starter set?
Well, I'll be there. DMing 8 4-hour shifts of Next games over the weekend for Baldman Games, so god knows I'm gonna need some.![]()
I think that the pervasive usage of "D&D Next" is relevant to the name of the new edition, but not because it will include the word "Next." Rather, I suspect that the books will be prominently embossed with a huge "D&D" and only elaborate on the acronym inside the book.
Of the 3 books, I think I will need the DMG the least. Most of the rules changes will be in the PHB. The new monster stats will be critical. How to run a game, and design a campaign, will change the least. Something has to come out last, unless you believe WotC should delay until all the books can release simultaneously.Never understood why the DMG cones out later.....we want to run a game, not read the PHB for months.
Maybe I am being thick. I understand the second sentence, but am not sure what point you are making with the first. Are you saying that you expect all press releases to call it "Next" but not the actual books?
So the Barnes & Noble 'leak' was actually right, about this one at least?

I was posting my thoughts from the perspective of new players and DMs. If this version is about growth.....how does a new DM run a game using the rule books?
