It depends on what my players want to do... I'm fine completing the current adventures with the playtest rules, but I expect at least some of the players to buy the books as soon as they are out, and then wanting to switch and update their PC asap.

Errr...

What I meant was that we'll probably keep playing the 3.5Ed game we just started a few months ago. In the meantime, I'll buy the core books for 5th. As time goes on, we'll decide as a group if it's worth our time and $$$.

3.5E is still our preferred edition (with a light sprinkling of Pathfinder) so will probably buy the core books and then decide to switch or just mine for ideas.

My plans are unchanged - I'll wait until after the books are out and the dust settles, and then look for reviews from people I trust. If they reckon it's good, and assuming there isn't an immediate need for errata, I'll pick up copies of the core and give it a go.

There is one caveat to that: I might pick up the Starter Set in July and try that out. $20 is a small enough amount that I can risk it. :)

Still running 4E, and that won't change with the Starter Set, and it's unlikely it will with 5E roper. However, once 5E proper is out, I might start up a 5E side-game, if it looks palatable, otherwise I'll wait and watch reviews.

Definitely won't get the starter set (I hate starter sets, as a rule).

If the Starter Set is what I think it will be (basically, what Mearls described in L&L last year), I'll definitely pick that up. If it's what some folks expect (a game with no real chargen and only a couple levels), I'll wait for the PHB.

That just about nails it so accurately for me that I'll "cheat" and use it as my answer!

I'm running a campaign with the 5e play test rules now and we won't be finished till November at the earliest.

I'll take a look at the PHB rules when they come out, and if it's easy enough for us to transition over, we will. Otherwise, we'll finish up on the play test rules set and then decide what to do from there.

If folks like the finished rules, we may go straight into a new 5e (official) campaign, or we might take a break and do something else (13th Age, Numenera, Star Wars, or maybe something superheroey).

If the Starter Set is like the '83 Red Box, I will get it. I will use it to introduce new players to the game. I might even use it for some one shots. If it is inferior and doesn't include character generation, I won't get it and won't miss it.

I won't start any campaigns until I have the core 3 books in my hands, although I'll likely discontinue my Next campaign before then. It's intentionally a playtest campaign designed to allow testing rather than ongoing campaign style play.

I won't start my big campaign until the rules for psionics and the planes are out. The rules for planes in the DMG might be sufficient, but we'll have to wait and see.
