D&D 5E L&L Basic Dungeons & Dragons

Great news, not surprising in the least though I was pretty sure that what was going to happen a couple of days ago

So, I'm going to look inside my crystal ball and do a small prediction:
At tomorrow's L&L Mike Mearls is going to announce that they will release Basic D&D, for free, on WotC site in July, he will probably give some details on what will be in it and what wouldn't be in it.

There might be something about Standard and Advanced D&D but it might be the subject of later L&L.

I'm sad that they don't have any planes for an app :.-(

I've never been so pleased about a D&D product that I'm probably not going to use once the core books turn up.

Will definitely be downloading and reading it, though.

Mike Mearls seems to be very confident as far as the adventures are concerned. With the strategy he outlined adventures are now a/the core product: Buy this cool adventure and get everything the rest you need for free!

Could also be a consequence of the multimedia storyline approach. The adventure is a core part of a storyline. Buy it, play it, enjoy it, even if you're no roleplayer.

I'm a little surprised at this. But it is a good plan, should generate some support. Always helps to give away stuff for free to rouse interest. I'm surprised but I wholeheartedly approve. In fact I'll certainly use the free pdf as my litmus test for whether it is worth picking up more.

Also: Is that new art? Those look like 5e goblins.

The caption for the picture says, "One of several dozen new pieces of art from the Starter Set."

So, yes. Also, I agree, it looks similar to the concept art we saw a while ago, even if it had said nothing.

I would say your sig line could use an edit.

Smart move.

Great news. Well done Mike Mearls & Wizards.

I like that in picture in the article...the characters are more realistic looking and believable.

I have to say I didn't expect that much free material online.

Character creation up to lev 20. The 4 basic classes. The 4 basic races. Some monsters. Some DM stuff.

What intrigues me most is that the must be EXTREMELY confident in the value of their adventures, since they are the only products you "must" buy to play, being PHB, DMG and MM optional at this point,
