Pathfinder 1E porcupine, dire. quills. do they stack?

So that's the question. When a porcupine hits with it's tail it lodges 1d6 quills in the flesh of said target.
Then the description continues to state that A lodged quill imposes a –1 circumstance penalty to attacks, saves, and checks.
Does this mean that if I rolled that there are 6 quills lodged in said creature that it would take a -6 to those rolls or do they not stack?

I would agree they stack.

However, I also wouldn't stack them indefinitely - each time the creature hits I would roll d6 and if the result is higher than the previous number of lodged quills then I would replace that number with the new one. So the maximum penalty that could be suffered would be -6 - still high, but not quite so disasterous.

Is this the dire porcupine from the Tome of Horrors book? If so, then yes. They stack.

Edit: And honestly, that monster needs to be updated/re-converted. :) I'd probably rework it based off the Medium sized Giant Porcupine (appears in Bestiary 3) and maybe give it a ranged quill attack (like the original giant porcupine in 2e).
