D&D 5E What's the 5E plan?

Once the DMG is out, what is WOTC's plan for D&D going forward?

Aside from general comments along the lines of "We/re going to take our time and get things right.." I haven't been able to find anything online where WOTc is talking about their plans for the future.

What's the plan for the Forgotten realms? The other campaign settings?

What's the plan for the old magazines? Are they going to return in digital format?

What are the plans for future novels?

What ventures is WOTc planning with other companies and what are those collaborations?

It seems strange to me that WOTC isn't talking about what they are doing.

Everything is primarily rumour at this point. I think Mearls has said that there will be an FR book at some point and I vaguely recall mention of other settings but I forget who said it.

I think the only concrete thing we have at this point is that the Adventurer's League seasons will begin with an adventure path-like set of adventures. Along with these will come themed books which will have things like feats, spells, etc. The first one of the adventure paths is the Tyranny of Dragons (so Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Rise of Tiamat). I'm not sure if there will be a themed book to accompany this as I've only heard about the next adventure path, Princes of the Apocalypse which will apparently have an elemental themed book to accompany it.

Yeah, a lot of stuff is very .... hush hush. I thought more information would come after the actual launch but we still don't have a liscensing agreement for personal publishing/3rd parties, any new releases, etc. I really wish they would keep the community in the know but damn if it's not like fort knox there. They refuse to let anyone know their inner workings. For a game that relies on community so much their business practices leave much to be desired.

There is a lot of unknown with DungeonScape and how it will tie in with everything but I think they are going to follow their business model, an adventure of two every now and then and a re-printed popular source book for the new version. Good thing there are some 3rd party vendors putting stuff out.

Well, after the DMG drops we should see:
-3rd party publication policy
- Elemental evil adventure and sourcebook
- Another adventure and sourcebook for the latter half of 2015
- some multi-media DM guides for new DMs
- conversion rules for past editions (originally planned for the DMG; looks like they're being transferred online to make room)
- probably the return the Dragon and Dungeon magazines as online resources. One thing they have to figure out is how to monetize it, since the old Dragon/Dungeon magazines were sold through DDI subscriptions, but they probably won't tie the magazines into access to DungeonScape.

They likely don't have the staff any more to work on more than one book at a time. They're doing the DMG at the moment and that's literally all they can do until it moves into layout.
So we'll have a delay of several months before we see the next WotC product. Like 5 months. The soonest we might get a book is May or June. Which is likely why WotC is going with 2nd Party Products: to give WotC time to segue into doing the super-adventure/storyline following Elemental Evil, aiming for an August release for the adventure and accessory.

Because they have the extra time, they might also stop and take stock of the response to the game and see where improvement is needed. See what classes need some love, see what options people are requesting and address some complaints.
