I wouldn't worry about the gold award in that adventure. You can adjust if you want, but 5e does not seem to be majorly impacted by monetary awards unless the DM wants it to be. Also, adventuring is hazardous, so why not?!

I've had significant success converting the Slave Lords modules into 5e. The module retains it's 1e feel and has been a decent challenge for my group (who constantly rushes in and gets swarmed by lower level mobs).

Late 2E did much the same, but with much more difference between skilled and unskilled at low levels, and much less difference between low-level skill plus high level skill. In many ways, 5E is closer in tone to early 2E. (It feels VERY unlike 3.x to me.)

Gotta say how true this is for me. At first glance, 5e looks like 3e, but it plays more like 2e (particularly early 2e), IMO. However, the chassis is so small compared to the previous editions that I imagine you can probably bend it quite a bit in feel.

Any non-4E adventure should be fairly easily converted.

I would think even the 4e ones wouldn't be too hard. Although 4e's penchant for 80 different subtypes of critter (Frostbreath Critter, Spiketail Critter, Speedfoot Critter, Redeye Critter, Longtooth Critter, Stinkfoot Critter, etc. etc.) in the same combat/adventure isn't well supported by 5e. So you'd either lose that, or have to put in some time to take the basic critter of whatever type and modify it to suit. The rest should pop over just fine.

1e is easy. Just replace monster stats with 5e ones. Treasure is fine too; all you really need to do is adjust the + modifier for weapons and armor down. I've done almost a dozen 1e modules using 5e in the past 2 years or so, and it's all pretty easy.

I have been converting the 3.5 AP Age of Worms and have kept all the magic items and gold except for magic items that are on unnamed, non leader monsters. So the adventure is high magic and gold, but it has been flowing well. Level 8 and there have been no real issues.
