D&D 5E Castle Greyhawk and World of Greyhawk Gazetter for 5E

Would You Buy a 5E Castle Greyhawk from Gygax's Notes?

Here's a crazy thought: WotC could purchase the rights to the original Castle Greyhawk dungeon from Gary's widow and release it as a 5E adventure alongside a "new" gazetter on the World of Greyhawk.

I believe that every single one of us grognards would buy the "real" Castle Greyhawk dungeon adventure. Castle Zagyg never got finished and the books are rare and expensive.

Would you buy a 5E Castle Greyhawk adventure module if it were made from Gary's notes and maps?

Wow. Great idea. I wish I had thought of that.

I would buy the "real" Castle Greyhawk in a heartbeat, even if I never intended to use it. That place is the greatest remaining OD&D mystery.

Imagine if Hasbro donated a portion of the profits from sale of Castle Greyhawk to the Gygax Memorial Fund. That would generate a ton of goodwill in the RPG community.

Well this became a bit awkward. But I must admit

"Wow. Great idea. I wish I had thought of that." Is hilarious in this context.

Anyway I own nice Castle Greyhawk player and DM maps from the Ruins of Castle Greyhawk, which took some stuff from descriptions of the original. Still I would buy a book about the castle with out a second thought.

I'm more interested in the gazetteer than the castle module, but I'd buy both in a heartbeat, assuming a reasonable price. That said, I'd really like something more than a gazetteer. I'd like someone to go through every single adventure, every single sourcebook, every single magazine article, and compile all the lore, all Gary's notes, everything, and compile a single reference tome for Greyhawk. I really hate thinking, "I'm sure I read somewhere..."

I am one of those weird old grogs who grew up playing in the 70s with the lbbs but never liked the mega dungeon concept. The Warden is about the only example of the concept I can get into.

But I would be all over a new version of the setting.

You are so 2008 with this post. Seriouly, those who followed the whole Castle Zygyg/Troll lord games fiasco came to this conclusion years ago. Well it was one of them anyway.

The only one that really makes any sense at all is that indeed WOTC made a agreement with Gary's family for Castle Zygyg.

I for one never doubted that this happaned, though it was perhaps a wise move for the family it was a bitter pill to swallow at the time.
