Just saw this movie yesterday. IMO, it had a lot of good special effects, but the story seemed a bit muddled. Much of the plot seemed a rehash of other witch/horror movies.

Intersting. I was going to watch it on Sunday. I've heard mixed reviews; although, none of them are overly complimentary. They tend to range between fun movie to vomit inducing.

For once, I got the rare chance to watch a movie in a theater (married with young kids pretty much has nixed me getting to a theater to see what I want to see).

I'll give two scores:

Versus my expectations for the movie going in = 4/5 stars
I expected Vin Diesel doing supernatural butt-kicking with just enough story to keep things moving along. It delivered that. Overall, it entertained me and slightly exceeded my expectations based on the description of the movie.

Note: I presume there is some other book/comic/IP out there that the movie is based on given the ending. I am not familiar with it and thus that did not taint my expectations.

Overall = 3/5
It was fine to see in the theater once. If I come across it on TV, I would stop channel flipping and watch chunks of it again or put it in the Netflix queue. Its a good popcorn munching movie that is not unique, but fun none-the-less.

From a gamer perspective: As a Savage Worlds guy, I could easily see running something in that genre and it provided nice Trappings ideas for powers. One could tie this in nicely with the re-released Rippers or East Texas University with ease.

It's not really that good, or that bad. It's just kind of average. I'd not recommend paying full theater price to watch it. Wait and rent it when it hits the dollar rack.

I think I did pay matinee price. But I did not pay that much attention since I was just happy to get to see a movie in a theater.

Although, I was rather indignant that they did not pause the movie when I had to go to the bathroom. I mean, I did pay money they should cater to me. They should be trying to outdo my home viewing experience. And there were only like 8 people in the whole place and for some strange reason 2 of them sat one seat away from me - WTF? its an empty theater go sit somewhere else. And too many previews, yada yada yada.

I am not sure I am ready to see Star Wars in the the theater, apparently.

I'll be watching it forfree. I have a free pass, and the theater gives you a free pass on your birthday, so I won't have to pay for the movie. I'll just be paying to eat, and the good thing about this theater is that they have good food. It has a full bar, and it has a restaurant, so you can order food and have it brought to your seat while watching a movie.

...I've had the same thing happen, but I think that it's more due to where I sit. I like to pick the upper section right in the middle, so I can see the screen without looking up or down. Yesterday there were four of us and we were all within three seats of each other.

...I am so ready for Star Wars, I'm going the Tuesday after it's released. I want to grab the matinee around noonish.

...They put in a place like that just north of here a few months ago. Unfortunately, the food is way overpriced. It's cheaper for me to eat in the food court and use the theater at the mall.
