Secret missions in AL

My characters have joined factions and achieved enough renown to be granted secret missions. What are those and how do I grant them?

There are secret (special) missions in some Tier 2 expeditions adventures. To this point there has been one per faction per season, so 3 for each faction.

All you need to do is play your character in an adventure that has an appropriate special mission and then complete that mission.

One thing that comes as a surprise to many people is that the secret missions are *only* in Expeditions modules, not in Encounters or in the published adventures. So if you leveled a character up to Tier 3 via Rise of Tiamat or Princes of the Apocalypse, you've essentially leveled past *most* of the current content which had the secret missions. As Skerrit pointed out, they will show up in Tier 3 content, but as there's been only 1-2 secret missions for each faction per season...it's probably best to know that we're not going to see that pace drastically increase.

Since we have to complete 7 of those in T3 to advance to the next rank as opposed to the 3 we had to do in T2, they have to either drastically increase their frequency or change the requirements for the faction ranks.

Because planning on requiring 7 seasons (starting with S4, or are there missions in the S3 T3 adventures) to reach rank 5 seems like people just not being supposed to ever reach it

It *sounds* like you're assuming that the intent is for anyone to be able to reach Rank 5 during S4...or even for a lot of people to be *able* to reach it. The idea of PCs being "leaders" in the faction needs to be defined. If they're going to define leadership as meaning that a Rank 5 *character* can draw upon faction resources to have minions perform some task, or to raise some troops, or something else which would be contained in a single Expedition adventure, well, then it doesn't really matter how many people reach Rank 5, and I agree, we can speed along to get there.

But if they're talking about something where *players* with rank 5 characters have some influence in the OP environment (even if that influence is minor/trivial), then it makes sense to slow people's progression down.

Personally, I would suspect that they'll go with the former...but that a large portion of the player base is expecting / hoping for something closer to the latter.

Not during S4, but during the time it takes to complete T3 (so S7 or S8, but not S10 we'd need with 1 mission per season).
ut that a large portion of the player base is expecting / hoping for something closer to the latter.
Even so, just one mission per season would be an big bet on the liftetime of AL and 5e in general.

In late 2018 / early 2019 we might already be playtesting or even playing 6e

Is there a list of secret mission adventures somewhere? I think I have run one, but I'm not sure it was presented as such, so I don't know if it counts. I'm Rank 3 in Emerald Enclave.
