D&D 5E Druid - Circle of the Land(s)

Anyone see any issues with letting a circle of the land druid change from one type of land to the next with, say, a long rest? Presumably the land spells of each type are balanced against each other, so would this present any balance issues?

I'm thinking it would be restricted by the actual type of land they are in, of course, but I'm not sure if it would be a voluntary or involuntary change...or what should happen in a mixed terrain location.

Example: A circle of the land druid is in a desert and has access to the desert circle spells. She travels to a forest and, after a long rest, loses access to (or chooses to drop) the desert spells and gains access to the forest spells instead. The forest abruptly meets a coastline and, after another long rest, she can (choose to??) retain the forest spells or switch to the coast spells.

Thoughts? I ask due to player interest.

I would not allow it overnight but with a good RP reason maybe. For example a coast druid relocates to a forest and communes with the nature spirits that bless them. Changing once or twice like this sure but not after each night.

I'd allow a staggered approach - one swap out per long rest.

I just think a forest Druid would be out of their depth in a desert and while able to commune with nature, it's new nature to him.

I'd also rule that if forest Druid travels to another Desert locale subsequently they could readjust after just one long rest. Like riding a bicycle after many years, it would come back to him more easily.

It depends entirely on whether you see Land selection as character background, or as a mechanical choice.

If you only care about Land selection due to mechanical differences... then sure, allow the player to change Lands as often as you feel is right. But if you see Land selection based upon the actual story of the PC-- their background, their feeling and connection to their homeland, the place where they gained their power in the first place-- then you'd never allow the player to change their choice without some sort of longer, drawn-out roleplay experience to justify why their connection to the land has changed. As UngeheuerLich says... a 250 day Downtime Activity seems to me to be the barest minimum to create a new connection. You just don't turn that on and off with a good night's rest.
