D&D 5E Out of the Abyss OOC

Wait for CoS? I drafted Girri, NG Cleric of Istus, just in case.

Death House said:
You can run Curse of Strahd for 1st-level characters with the help of this optional mini-adventure, which is designed to advance characters to 3rd level.

Sounds like CoS proper starts at level 3, so we might as well start here. That'll give me time to settle in, and hopefully not get lazy like I did in my last game (bad DM!)

I'm interested either/both, but are you particularly amped to run CoS? If so, it's only another few weeks 'til it's out. Either way, I'll keep an eye out for a new OOC thread if you decide to offer Death House or CoS. And while I'd be excited to play, I certainly don't expect you to hold a slot for me! I had fun re-inventing Girri. She was created about eight years ago for a Pathfinder game that never got off the ground. The art for her portrait has been on my mind lately, and I found it again after some serious digging on the Internet.

I'd pretty much give everyone in this game first dibs before I put up a recruiting thread. This group works perfectly wonderful together and I don't see any reason to fix what's not broken. :)

As for being amped... meh. I'd really rather let someone else DM so I can play, but there is no way on God's green earth that I'll be able to keep my nose out of the book long enough to finish a game. Just. Won't. Happen. So I might as well run it. :) If we start with this one, which, honestly, shouldn't take a great long time to finish since there's not a lot of combat, it'll give me time to study CoS and get comfy with it before taking it on the road. Death House actually references page numbers in CoS a few times, so I'm going to assume that it will be included in the book as a kickstarter to get folks up to a workable level for the real thing, and that one adventure will flow easily into the other.

Re: Girri
In my homebrew world, which exists mostly in my head save for the few maps floating around here and there, there is a race of nomadic elves called Khovari (or however I spelled it). They're basically gypsies, and inspired by Ravenloft's vistani. Less mysic, more artistic. Girri is pretty much exactly what I pictured in a Khovari. Kinda interesting.

LOL:)
Thanks for the offer, I'd love to play with you all some more. Going for the short introductory adventure would allow us to test that we have the time for two adventures, for myself, I think that should be fine:)

I have an idea for a young noble scion who has anger management issues (barbarian) and uses a whip in combat (on the peasants)...

These are super kind words, industrygothica. I would absolutely adore an opportunity to play alongside this bunch.

And neat-o that Girri tracks your Khovari; that's fun! EDIT: Forgot to add that, having recently got done playing an evil-ish curmudgeon of a paladin, I'm sincerely looking forward to a good-aligned character.

Unusually busy week this week. Monday, I'll be out of pocket most of the day to conduct intern interviews at IU Maurer. Tuesday, I'll be scrabbling to get some actual work done as it'll be my only office day this week. Wednesday, I have my regular juvenile delinquency hearings all day. Thursday and Friday, I'm at an overnight CLE up in north Indy (yay for quiet hotel stays!), and will be out of pocket all day both days. I expect to be around on Thursday evening, but Friday evening I have forced social hour in the form of a ballroom dance lesson. I'm glad I went to the office today and got a head start on hearing prep for my fill-in later this week.

Hey -- I'm putting this in the OOC, since Solace can't help directly.

I see that Raza has goodberry; perhaps it is relevant/helpful? "nourishment" may or may not include water; but Kago can produce water if we find a bucket thing.
