D&D 5E 5E: The Best and the Worst

Dislike: The multiclassing system. I would have greatly preferred the AD&D 2e style where you advance in more than one class at the same time, only without the racial restrictions and level limits.

Like: (dis)advantage replacing most fiddly bonuses and penalties.

Dislike: The fighter could use some things to do that aren't just being a fighter (though I think that it's relatively easy to build a subclass that ignores combat ability altogether for the chance to add some utility/skill-monkey abilities)

Nitpick: There's a really handy chart in the DMG (Page 249 if you want to see it) about how many creatures you can target when using an Area of Effect spell for use in Theatre of the Mind games. This should've been in the Player's Handbook, so people would stop worrying about precisely tracking every enemy movement.

Like: Bounded Accuracy. It's nice to be able to throw something slightly above or below the curve and not have it be too over/underwhelming.

I never even noticed that chart until you mentioned it. Thank you. It's a godsend (or at least a flametitansend).

I can't offer anything new, so I'm just piling on :)

Like: The rules are simple and a breeze to tweak, aka, house-rule.

Dislike: I don't want a return to splat-of-the-month, but the current release schedule is a tad too slow for me. I'd love to have more official options for backgrounds, subclasses, etc.

It's a handy chart, which is why I wish it was in the PHB rather than an easily missed section of the DMG. It's almost vital for running a smooth ToTM game if you're not an expert at keeping positioning in your head. Of course, this problem is not so huge as to make the game significantly worse (but it is even more taxing on the DM), which is why I consider a mere nitpick.
